<p>Tyra Heckstall is currently a Dean of Instruction at Booker T. Washington High School with KIPP New Orleans Schools. Tyra drive's school-wide priorities such as ACT performance and growth, teacher development and coaching structures, US History LEAP 2025 performance and growth, literacy growth, and college and career pathways for upperclassmen. Tyra coaches 7 Social Studies teachers to build their skills and content expertise and works directly with the schools' college counselor to ensure our seniors have a post-secondary plan prior to graduation. </p><p>Prior to becoming a Dean, Tyra taught twelfth-grade AP US Government &amp; Politics for 2 years, taught ninth-grade Pre-AP World History for 2 years, and served as the 12th Grade Level Chair for 2 years. Additionally, Tyra is a curriculum writer for the KIPP Foundation's AP for All curriculum, serves as an AP Reader for College Board, and is a member of the 2023 Alumni Coaching Cohort for Teach for America. Tyra holds a Master of Arts in Education with a focus in Instructional Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Tyra is additionally a Greater New Orleans Teach For America 2018 alumna.</p><p> </p>
