Andrew Poland
921 Rowley BLVD
Arabi, LA., 70032
(504) 220-1368
andrewtpoland@mailfence.com
Dear Sir/Ma’am,
I am writing you today to express interest in working with you. I am a self-starter, and
highly motivated. As my resume shows, I have worked in a variety of different
industries. I am excited to be considered for yours.
I am technically proficient. I have extensive experience with a variety of equipment and
platforms that varies in technical application. I am proficient with Microsoft Office, and
the Windows platform in general. I have minor experience working with Mac systems. I
am currently using Linux. I also have experience with point-of-sale systems, vehicles,
scale systems, logistics tracking systems, kitchen equipment, and more. From my
Laboratory experience, I have operated and performed maintenance on technical, high
precision, and high value equipment in order to achieve accurate results. I obtained and
refined all of this experience on the job.
I am a hard worker and a quick learner. What I do not already know how to do I can
learn quickly. As my resume and available Curriculum Vitae illustrate, I have adapted
and learned to excel in a wide range of work from industrial jobs to high-end dining to
precision laboratory analysis. I work well both in groups as well as alone and can work
on multiple projects at once. I enjoy following a project through leaving no loose ends or
additional work to be done.
I am always interested in learning new skills and adding more value to myself. I have
worked a rather varied assortment of jobs. I have most often had to train on the job,
under pressure, and with time requirements. I have often stayed late or come in early in
order to achieve additional training. I excel when challenged, and when not, I keep
myself busy either learning or with other tasks.
I attended college at Loyola University New Orleans. I left during my junior year, but I
still want to finish and am working toward that goal. I am a driven and reliable person
who considers integrity in his work of utmost importance. I consider my work to be a
reflection of my character and strive to have that reflection be one of loyalty, integrity,
hard work, and professionalism. I feel these traits are not only conducive to an office
environment but mandatory.
I look forward to scheduling an appointment with you.
Sincerely,
Andrew Poland
Enclosure

-----------------------------------------------------RESUME----------------------------------------------------

Andrew Thomas Poland
(504) 220-1368 AndrewTPoland@mailfence.com 921 Rowley Boulevard, Arabi Louisiana



























Thionville Laboratory
Laboratory Technician: December 2019-June 2020
Ran AOCS, ASTM, UOP, IMPCA, EN, and ISO Standardized Methods methods on various agricultural products,
specifically in the Oils Department.
Maintained laboratory equipment.
Labels, categorizes, and maintains specimens and samples.
Safely disposed of hazardous chemicals in compliance with federal and state regulations.
American Sugar Refining (Domino Sugar)
Quality Control Inspector: July 2019-October 2019
Ran ICUMSA methods on all points of refining process to ensure quality and mechanical operation.
Performed environmental inspection and testing to ensure conformance to federal and state regulations.
Performed sampling of tanks and water streams all over refinery.
Saybolt Laboratory
Laboratory Technician II: December 2016-July 2019
Ran ASTM, UOP, IMPCA, EN, and ISO Standardized Methods on a variety of petrochemicals
Proficient in ASTM 2699/2700 (Research/Motor Octane Engine Number)
Proficient in ASTM D613 (Cetane Engine Number)
Part of key task force launching new safety program world-wide
IATA Certified
Amspec Laboratory
Laboratory Technician I: August 2015-December 2016
Ran ASTM, UOP, IMPCA, EN, and ISO Standardized Methods on a variety of petrochemicals
Proficient in ASTM 2699/2700 (Research/Motor Octane Engine Number)
Proficient in ASTM D613 (Cetane Engine Number)
Saia Motor-Freight
Dock Worker, OS&D Specialist: June 2014-March 2015
Ran a forklift loading and unloading trucks
Operating logistics software and mobile computer system
Processing checks and deposit slips for three different terminals
Processing order data to reflect overages, shortages, and damages (OS&D)
Contacting shippers and consignees for disposition of affected freight
Home Depot
Garden Associate: March 2014-March 2015
Became certified in all lift equipment in use
Became Nursery certified
Helped customers with various home improvement and garden projects
Dickie Brennan’s Tableau
Head Waiter, Trainer, Special Events: January 2013-January 2014
Started as a back-waiter, and worked my way up to head waiter, training, and special events waitstaff
Responsible for knowing all ingredients in all food and drink items, pairings, and making suggestions to customers
Trained waitstaff in fine dining service techniques
Managed crews during special events, coordinating set-up, food service, beverage service, billing and tear-down













Loyola University New Orleans
Political Science(BA), Economics (BS): Fall 2007-Spring 2011
President, Athletic Director, Pledge Master for Sigma Alpha Kappa Fraternity
Founding officer, Station Manager, General Manager for Crescent City Radio
Staff Writer, Assistant Sports Editor for Loyola Maroon
Student representative on University Haitian Aid committee
Economics club
Merit scholarship, merit based based grant
Certifications/Skills
TWIC
IATA Certified Shipper
Have held forklift and other lift equipment certifications
Proficient in oil/gas ASTM, UOP, IMPCA,EN, ISO methods
ASTM D2699/D2700/D613
GC/HPLC/ICP/GCMS
ARSC Basic Plus through Gulf Coast Safety Council
