<p>A proud export of New York City, I earned a B.A. in English from the University of Rochester before embarking on a freelance career writing for such publications as The New York Times, Stagebill and Musical America. My principal chunk of professional experience centers on almost 28 years as a Staff Writer and Critic for The Courier-Journal in Louisville, KY. I left that position in October 2010 to rejoin my wife and two children, who'd moved back to New Orleans (where she grew up) three years earlier. Soon after I arrived, I began contributing to The Times-Picayune/NOLA.com. More recently I've written out of market, principally for clients in Louisville. And now that my children are almost fully grown and reasonably independent -- and following a (happily amicable) divorce, I'm hungry to return to the full-time workforce.</p>
