Pete’s Papercrafts is a small, hands-on production studio and retail shop based in Metairie. We design and manufacture a wide range of custom and retail products, including paper crafts, engraved items, signage, rubber stamps, seals, ornaments, and glassware. Our work is sold directly to customers, through retail partners, and at events throughout the year. We operate several distinct product lines and brands under one roof, which keeps the work varied and engaging.

We are seeking a full-time Production & Retail Associate to join our team. This is a long-term position for someone who enjoys hands-on work, learning new skills, and being part of a collaborative, small-business environment.

About the Role

This role is primarily production-based, with regular customer interaction throughout the day. Much of the work involves focused, repeatable tasks, balanced with helping customers, answering phones, and managing orders. The mix of responsibilities can change daily or seasonally, so flexibility, organization, and a steady approach are important.

You will work closely with the owner and a lead design associate, receiving hands-on training across our processes, equipment, and product lines.

Responsibilities

• Produce custom and retail items including paper crafts, engraved products, signage, stamps, seals, and glassware
• Operate laser engraving and production equipment (training provided)
• Prepare and adjust basic graphics and layouts for production
• Greet customers, answer questions, and assist with placing orders
• Answer phones and respond to in-person customer inquiries
• Invoice customers and accept payments (cash, card, etc.)
• Maintain a clean, organized studio and retail space
• Assist with off-site events such as art markets or on-site engraving (approximately 6–20 events per year)

• Reliable, punctual, and attentive to detail
• Comfortable multitasking and shifting between projects
• Friendly and professional with customers
• Able to work independently while collaborating with a small team
• Interested in learning new tools, processes, and equipment
• Looking for a long-term position and stability

Skills & Experience

• Experience with Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW is preferred but not required
• Comfort using computers for everyday tasks such as file handling, basic layouts, and invoicing
• Prior experience in retail, production, fabrication, print, or craft environments is a plus
• On-the-job training provided for well-qualified and motivated candidates

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs
