Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Bookstore Manager, this individual assists with the supervision and daily management of the Health Sciences Bookstore, a retail operation with an annual budget of $800,000. Responsibilities to include, but not limited to, functioning as the textbook manager for all course related books on the main campus, overseeing the coordination of academic regalia in support of commencement ceremonies, assisting with the distribution of student supply kits and maintaining the supply of inventory, including required uniforms and medical supplies. This individual will also serve as the point of contact for campus departments to source branded merchandise. The Assistant Manager will assist in the management and training of Bookstore staff and will be responsible for the reporting and reconciliation of daily Bookstore sales. This position will require strong communication skills and will work as a team to ensure LSUHSC goals are accomplished. The Assistant Manager will often substitute as the manager in the Bookstore Manager’s absence. The incumbent should have excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to work harmoniously with others to achieve positive results. All duties must be accomplished with a high degree of independence.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of work experience, including some retail and/or procurement experience
