About School Food and Nutrition Services
<p>School Food and Nutrition Services (SFNS) is a ministry of the Archdiocese of New Orleans and we are dedicated to the health and nutrition of students. </p><p>SFNS participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), the School Breakfast Program (SBP) and the NSLP Afterschool Snack Program (ASP). SFNS serves the students in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux at all participating schools. </p><p>SFNS believes every student should have the opportunity to achieve their highest performance in school. School meals play a critical role in helping children learn and to lead healthy lifestyles. SFNS follows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines for our meals. The USDA standards ensure that children have the energy they need to learn in class and be physically active, while reducing their risk for obesity, diabetes and other serious chronic diseases. In addition to lower-fat dairy and leaner proteins, school meals offer whole grains and many fruits and vegetables at lunch. It is important that all students consume meals that are filling and provide lasting energy.</p><p> </p><p> </p>
