About New Orleans African American Museum (NOAAM)
<p>THE NEW ORLEANS AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM OF ART, HISTORY AND CULTURE (NOAAM) </p><p>was founded in 1996 under the guidance and extensive support of the City of New Orleans Department of Housing and Neighborhood Development. </p><p>NOAAM is located in the Tremé section of New Orleans, a neighborhood that was home to the nation’s largest, most prosperous and politically progressive community of black people by the mid-1850s. </p><p><br></p><p>Since our grand re-opening in April 2019: </p><p>We have welcomed over 8,000 guests and community members. </p><p>Hosted 200 events </p><p>6 Exhibitions </p><p>Over 150 tour groups </p><p>Completed Phase 1 ( stabilization and weatherization) and Phase 2 ( security and safety) of the restoration of our historic campus at the end of 2020 </p><p>We look forward to welcoming you to the New Orleans African American Museum! </p><p>https://www.noaam.org/history</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
