Job Description
Stuart Hall School for Boys seeks a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as our Head of Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year. The ideal candidate will embrace and promote best practices in education: curriculum, pedagogy, spirituality, and student formation. The ideal candidate will also be an excellent communicator desiring to partner with parents, to support colleagues, and to nurture students.
The Head of Middle School will report to the Head of School and will work closely with the faculty and the administration to promote the culture, standards, and policies of the School, specific to grades 5th, 6th, and 7th.
The Middle School Head will be someone who embraces the school’s mission, values, and history. He or she must bring energy, creativity, a positive attitude, faith formation, and integrity to the position. Preferred candidates will have a master’s degree in education, school administration, or a related field and experience in school administration. Stuart Hall is seeking a professional who exhibits a clear and up-to-date understanding of current research and best practices in the field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A master’s degree or higher degree in education
- Experience in various middle school classroom settings
- Experience in school administration
Stuart Hall School for Boys was founded in 1984 by William M. Gallop in response to the long-time need for a Catholic and Independent boys' school in the New Orleans area at the preschool and elementary levels. The School was named for Janet Erskine Stuart, a well-known religious of the Sacred Heart who was an English educator living at the turn of the century. Janet Erskine Stuart's writings and philosophy transcend the limits of time and represent the basis upon which the school was founded.
The School is autonomous in setting its curriculum and determining its future. The School is a member of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the Independent School Association of the Southwest (ISAS), and the International Boys’ Schools Coalition (IBSC).
The mission of the Stuart Hall community is to live the words of Catholic educator Janet Erskine Stuart, RSCJ, Education is formation, not just information. The faculty and staff are dedicated to working with parents to help each child build a foundation for a life centered on a love for learning, a desire to help others, and a commitment to Gospel values.
How to Apply:
All interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and philosophy of education via email to Mr. Peter Kernion, Head of School-Elect, pkernion@stuarthall.org.
Stuart Hall School for Boys is an equal opportunity institution. Continuing its long-standing policy of actively supporting equality of opportunity for all persons, Stuart Hall School for Boys does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national or ethnic origin, or age, in the administration of its admission, educational policies, athletic and other school-administered programs. Additionally, the Stuart Hall School for Boys does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender, color, national or ethnic origin, or age, in the administration of its employment, financial assistance, and loan programs. Rather, Stuart Hall School for Boys affirms that it admits students regardless of their race, religion, color, national or ethnic origin and selects employees regardless of their race, religion, gender, color, national or ethnic origin and thereafter accords them all the rights and privileges generally made available to students or employees at the School.
