Working Hours: 10:30am-4:30pm OR 4:00pm-10:00pm

Job Type: Part-Time

Reports To: Retail & Merchandise Manager

Supervises: N/A

Established in 1961, Preservation Hall has become a New Orleans cultural institution, dedicated to preserve, perpetuate, and protect traditional New Orleans-style music. For over 50 years, Preservation Hall has maintained this mission through education/community outreach, worldwide tours, and nightly concerts, 350 nights a year, at their historic venue in the French Quarter. Over 100,000 visitors per year pass through the gates to experience a bit of New Orleans music and history. Preservation Hall continues to:

• serve as a cultural, educational, and community resource

• honor the legendary artists that play and have played the Preservation Hall

• provide visitors to New Orleans with some of the best music the city has to offer

• provide a homebase for artists, productions and cultural events.

• act as ambassadors of New Orleans music & culture to the world

JOB SUMMARY:

The Retail Associate is responsible for carrying out the front-line selling effort, merchandise sales revenue for the organization, creating the ultimate experience for our guests and maintaining retail standards through back of house operations. Retail Associates will drive results through effective communication and a demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.

The Retail Associate will be expected to work a part-time schedule which can include days, nights, and weekends.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Help execute a brand connection with guests

·         Make recommendations based on observations and conversations with guests

·         Maintain sales floor and/or stockroom standards with an eye to detail

·         Process sales transactions via the Point of Sale System (Shopify POS)

·         Maintain the highest standards of professionalism and customer service to ensure the Preservation Hall brand is always positively represented

·         Perform additional responsibilities as directed by the management team

Education, Experience and Requirements:

·         High School diploma or equivalent

·         Past experience working in retail or sales preferred

·         Ability to work independently or as a team, and responsibly in a fast-paced environment servicing a diverse guest base

·         Ability to work nights and weekends

·         Demonstrate ability to build product knowledge of  inventory

·         Ability to maintain high standards of organization and cleanliness

·         Strong verbal communication skills

Physical Demands:

·         Regularly required to sit stand, reach, bend and move about the facility as needed

·         Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.

·         Store may have exposure to various weather elements (rainy, windy, cold, high temperatures, etc.)
