Title: ​Operations Manager (OM)

Reports to: ​Chief Executive Officer

The Team:

Blue Krewe is a new nonprofit bringing bike share back to New Orleans, providing healthy, affordable, fun transportation available 24/7/365 to residents and visitors.

In partnership with the City of New Orleans and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, Blue Krewe will be re-launching Blue Bikes in 2021. System expansion is anticipated.

Your Place in the Team:

Under the guidance of the Chief Executive Officer, the OM’s top priorities will be the safety of our riders and employees, and bike availability and operability. This means you will focus on achieving and maintaining high maintenance standards while ensuring that staff will always have the required training and equipment to complete their jobs efficiently and safely.

You will manage a budget and report on performance metrics. You will always be called on to find ways of improving processes. You will be passionate, hardworking and will foster the development of creative ideas to solve everyday problems. Your dedication and strong work ethic must be accompanied by great interpersonal, organization and leadership skills. You bring a positive attitude, a good sense of humor, and know how to maximize the performance of your team.

What You’ll Do

  • ●  Manage overall operational performance and budget.
  • ●  Manage bicycle mechanics, who maintain and repair bikes in the shop.
  • ●  Manage the field team, who maintain, clean, and repair bikes and stations in the field,
    and rebalance bikes in the field (to maximize bike availability based on need).
  • ●  Ensures performance metrics for bike and station maintenance and bicycle availability
    are met, and where needed, improved.
  • ●  Provide reports on performance metrics on a weekly basis or more frequently if required.
  • ●  Ensures thorough, timely and accurate data entry as required by all employees.
  • ●  Analyzes data to inform efficient and organized bicycle distribution throughout the
    system, optimizing bicycle availability and minimizing instances of full or empty stations.


● Provide training and feedback to all direct reports.

Who You Are

  • ●  College degree in business administration or related field required.
  • ●  5+ years experience managing diverse and varied teams, developing and optimizing
    procedures, and training and developing staff.
  • ●  Experience managing and prioritizing multiple conflicting demands of staff,
    contractors/vendors, budgets, and clients in a fast paced environment.
  • ●  Excellent organizational skills.
  • ●  Strong analytical and problem solving skills; technical and/or mechanical skills a big plus.
  • ●  Proficient knowledge of Google G-Suite and Microsoft Office. Comfort with and ability to
    learn new technology quickly.
  • ●  ​Valid driver's license and clean driving record (must pass MVR screen).
  • ●  Intimate knowledge of the New Orleans area.
  • ●  Leadership skills – experience inspiring and motivating employees to successfully
    achieve operational goals. ●
  • ●  Interpersonal skills – maintain confidentiality; remain open to others' ideas; demonstrate willingness to try new things.
  • ●  Adaptable – enthusiastically adapt to changes in the work environment; manage competing demands; deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • ●  Dependable - Follow instructions; respond to management direction; communicate frequently; solicit feedback to improve performance.
  • ●  Sense of humor required.
    Bonus Points
  • ●  Lean Six Sigma Certification or demonstrated experience with process improvement
  • ●  Knowledge of New Orleans geographies, communities, and neighborhoods
    Job Conditions
  • ●  Full-Time, salaried position with hours that may exceed 40 hours/week
  • ●  40% normal office conditions
  • ●  35% work outdoors, technical and non-technical
  • ●  25% warehouse/shop environment
  • ●  Job will involve frequent or prolonged standing, bicycling or driving
  • ●  May require bending, stooping, lifting up to 40 pounds.
    Salary range
    Approximately $60k annually + benefits commensurate with experience.

Here at Blue Krewe, we believe that expanding access to Blue Bikes will benefit the entire region by catalyzing economic growth, improving community health, and increasing the use of existing transit infrastructure.

Blue Krewe was created in 2020 by the Greater New Orleans Foundation, which provided critical start-up funding and fiscal sponsorship. Our initial partners also included BikeEasy, Blue Cross Blue Shield Louisiana, and the City of New Orleans.
