New Orleans College Prep (NOCP) is searching for a Director of Development to manage all fundraising efforts. The Director of Development will be responsible for directing, planning and coordinating all fundraising efforts to ensure our students receive both the academic and extracurricular experiences they need to be successful upon graduation. This position is also responsible for ensuring all NOCP schools have the resources they need to accelerate progress towards its mission. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO)and consults with the Chief Executive Officer and will help drive NOCP’s  expansion, capacity, and continued programmatic success.

Public/Private Fundraising:

Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to accomplish fundraising goals

Navigate internal communications with NOCP staff to align fundraising objectives to inform strategy and support achievement of school performance goals

Leads the Development Committee of the Board of Directors to develop strategies to initiate and meet aggressive fundraising goals

Support and staff all board activities, including posting and staffing all meetings, managing public posting requirements, and supporting the CEO with board communication. 

Monitor and report progress towards fundraising goals to CEO and Board on regular basis

Write grants and secure donated funds from foundations, corporations, individuals, and state/federal revenue sources

Establish broad network of personal and NOCP relationships with local and national funders to improve grant applications and expand likelihood of securing approval

Manage all fundraising information in database systems including reports, dashboards, activities and all accounts 

Write and publish fundraising-related communications via e-mail, business letters, website and advertising materials

Coordinate fundraising events, when needed, in accordance with annual fundraising strategy

Manage and submit grant reporting requirements

Lead project evaluation for Federal and Private grants annually, working with internal stakeholders and an external program evaluator to establish performance metrics, design qualitative metrics, and write external program reports

External Relations:

Attend community meetings on behalf of the CEO, representing NOCP in the community when needed

Support the CEO in managing relations with various external stakeholders, including community organizations, alumni associations, non-profit partners / service providers, government entities, etc.

Competencies Required:

Deep appreciation and understanding of NOCP’s mission and the ability to articulate its values and vision internally and externally

Strong conceptual skills and strategic planning experience 

Effective oral and written communicator and proven networker with diverse internal and external stakeholders

Strong understanding of development principles and moves-management operations 

Advanced technology/computer skills including proficiency in Google Suite and  Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook). 

Familiarity with database management systems. Experience utilizing Salesforce preferred. 

Highly organized and detail-oriented

Effective time manager with multiple projects in a dynamic environment

Qualifications & Relevant Experience:

Bachelor's Degree or higher

Three plus years fundraising and/or Development experience

Teaching experience or previous experience work experience with an academic organization (preferred, not required)

Experience with urban / at-risk populations

Public and Private grant-writing experience 

High quality event planning experience

Marketing and Public Relations / Communications experience (preferred, not required)
