Job Description

Responsibilities:

Provide support for the instructional program within an assigned classroom and/or school setting, including but not limited to:



· Work with individual or small groups of students to assist in academic and social development

· Communicate with administrators, teachers and parents in evaluating student progress and/or implementing student learning objectives

· Implement instructional lessons as needed

· Maintain classroom equipment for instructional purposes

· Develop and maintain a safe and caring classroom and school environment

· Collect and utilize student data, as directed, to support student growth


Certification / Requirements:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Job related experience, including working with students and teachers in a variety of settings, is preferred

· Experience working with students with multiple disabilities preferred

· Ability to maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders

· Effective oral and written communication skills

All para-educators new to SCPPS are provided with support to foster success and growth, including but not limited to:

· District on-boarding session

· School-based transition support

· District and school based in-service/professional development sessions

· Annual Special Education update

· Employee appreciation events and recognition opportunities
