Job Description

Summary

The Program Coordinator, Community Engagement works with the Director of Strategic Initiatives and other staff of the Albert Lepage Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and key stakeholders in developing and implementing our community outreach and partnership strategy. The Program Coordinator leads efforts to work closely with community stakeholders through partnership creation and development, entrepreneur surveys and data analysis, and blog posts, websites, and social media.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated passion for entrepreneurship and small businesses.
  • Experience with entrepreneurship indirectly in an economic development organization, entrepreneur support organization, or university setting, or directly by working at a small business or new venture.
  • Ability to develop mutually beneficial partnerships with key stakeholders and creative solutions to effectively engage students, alumni, benefactors and the entrepreneurial community to inspire commitment and support of the Center’s mission and objectives.
  • Ability to conceptualize and implement social media strategy by creating a calendar of opportunities, managing paid advertising, and pursuing other efforts resulting in increased adoption and awareness of the activities of the center, new ventures and innovations developed by Freeman and Tulane students, and entrepreneurship-related research by faculty at Freeman and across Tulane.
  • Appreciation and knowledge of entrepreneurs, small businesses, and entrepreneurial ecosystems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and excellent working knowledge of software packages and applications applicable to responsibilities of the position.

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years’ experience working with entrepreneurs, small businesses and/or business communities
    OR
  • High school diploma/equivalent and seven years’ experience working with entrepreneurs, small businesses and/or business communities

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or graduate degree in marketing/communications.
  • Communications experience within a university or college setting, for a marketing agency, or in with entrepreneurial organizations or businesses.

Compensation Information
