Job Description

TIME FRAME: ALL JAZZ FESTIVAL EVENT DAYS

April 25th to May 5th, 2024 & Pre Production Meeting on 4/24 at 6PM.

POSITION SUMMARY: Located at the Mystery Street Entrance, the Musician Gate Crew represents the initial contact point for both musicians and public attendees at the Festival. Therefore, it is essential for this individual to project a positive and friendly demeanor to create a favorable first impression. Mystery Street serves as the focal point of our operations at the Fairgrounds, serving as the primary entrance for VIPs and Musicians.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • General responsibilities for all Musician Entrance Gate personnel include inspecting all vehicles entering the gate. Each car must display the correct gate car tag and undergo scrutiny to ensure the number of tickets matches the number of patrons in the vehicle. Gate Personnel are responsible for documenting all groups entering the grounds, enabling our Music Central operation to track group movements and identify any discrepancies promptly.
  • In addition to vehicle inspection, Mystery Street also functions as a pedestrian crossing. It is imperative to safely guide pedestrians across Mystery Street towards the public Sauvage Entrance Gate.
  • Gate Managers serve as the primary point of contact in the event of any issues. Any conflicts that arise must be immediately reported to the Gate Manager or the Packet Coordinator. The Packet Coordinator and Administrator will be stationed nearby in a Winnebago, directing musicians requiring parking passes or tickets to facilitate their entry for performances.
  • All Musician Entrance Gate personnel should anticipate working in the street amidst vehicle traffic, standing for extended periods, and enduring sun exposure from 9 am to 5:30 pm on most days. This crew should remain stationed at the gate until the Packet Coordinator's mobile office relocates into the Fair Grounds and until the last musicians enter the grounds or collect their musician’s packet. Only after 5:30 pm should packets be left with Security Personnel at the Mystery Entrance Gate.
  • It is of utmost importance for all Musician Gate employees to maintain a polite, courteous demeanor and keep a level head in all situations..

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available to work April 8 - May 9.
  • Non-Festival days 9:00AM – 4:00PM
  • Festival days 8:00AM - 7:30PM
  • Some scheduling flexibility is available.
  • Must attend 2 hours of pre-Festival training.
  • Using the Absentee Request Form, it is the responsibility of each employee and their supervisor to accurately report their absenteeism to the HR Office.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.
  • Must attend and complete any required training.
  • Any document, computer program, design or other intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival belongs to the Jazz Festival and must be given to the Festival through your supervisor or department head at the end of each production year, or upon request.
  • Must complete all required Feedback Forms and Final reports

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

All members of this team must be professional, even-tempered, and not easily flustered with the ability to multitask. Confidentiality is of utmost importance. There are no autographs or picture taking with this job. This position is primarily outdoors; rain or shine.
