Job Description

Inspects and reports on plumbing systems, tunnels, and plans for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and ordinances.  Issues corrections and violation notices to those without proper permits. Receives and investigates complaints as well as provide information to plumbing contractors and property owners regarding codes, standards, ordinances and the permitting process.  Employee also schedules inspections, test plumbing systems for back-flow, and approves systems for use.  Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.

Employees will also be required to obtain certification by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Residential Plumbing Inspector or Commercial Plumbing Inspector prior to the completion of their probationary period. 

Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination:

Applicants must meet one (1) of the following:
 

A.  Possession of, or eligibility to obtain (through previously successful regulatory examination), a current State Master Plumber's License issued by the State Plumbing Board of Louisiana;
 

B.  Possession of a current Journeyman Plumber License issued by the State Plumbing Board of Louisiana, PLUS, five (5) years of paid work experience in the plumbing trade licensed as a Journeyman Plumber.


Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.
