Job Description
Lapeyre Stair, Inc. has an opportunity for a Shipping Handler to work in a team-related environment. Responsibilities include packaging customer orders for shipment, contacting carriers for shipments due and maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
Lapeyre Stair constructs precision built metal stair systems using a state-of-the-art engineering and manufacturing system. The Lapeyre Stair product line includes Alternating Tread stairs, Steel Egress stairs (welded and bolted) as well as crossover systems, exit and intermediate platforms, and safety gates. Responsibilities
- Stacking, banding and preparing finished products for shipment
- Loading shipping trucks using overhead crane or forklift with finished staircases and landings
- Securing loads for shipment on delivery trucks in accordance with DOT regulations
- Monitoring the daily schedules and backlogs for shipments due.
- All housekeeping duties involving the shipping area.
- It is essential that this position is performed at the facility.
- Execute all safety procedures
Requirements
- High School graduate or GED required
- Previous fork-lift experience required.
- Previous shipping experience
- Able to evaluate necessary rigging to load/unload bulk steel using overhead crane or forklift
- Must be able to work well with others in a fast-paced team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills coupled with excellent attention to detail.
- A self-managed individual with a stable work history.
- Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift and move 50 lbs
