The Louisiana Crafts Guild is in search for a part time assistant for our gallery, LA Guild, inside of Canal Place!

We are looking for someone to work on some Friday afternoons, Saturday’s, Sundays, and Mondays.  If interested, please respond to this listing with your resume and cover letter or email riley@louisianacrafts.org . You must have sales or retail experience. We need someone who is open to work for some holidays.

Job Description / Position Overview:

As an Art Gallery Retail Assistant, you'll engage visitors, provide artwork insights, and facilitate sales. You need a passion for art, excellent customer service, and attention to detail.


Key Responsibilities:

- Welcome and assist customers, share artist and artwork information.

- Handle sales, payments, and maintain sales area.

- Help maintain gallery appearance and inventory.

- Provide excellent customer service.


Qualifications:

- Passion for art and basic art knowledge.

- Strong sales skills.

- Detail-oriented with basic computer skills for ringing up customers on Square.

- Flexible schedule, prior retail experience is a must. 


Benefits:

- Experience working for a non-profit dedicated to Louisiana based artists

- Covered cost of parking at Canal Place

- Monthly shared 3.25% commission pool depending on amount of hours worked each month

- Pay is $13.25 an Hour (Evens out to closer to $15 or $16 an hour or more depending on sales and added commission bonus)

OUR MISSION

The Louisiana Crafts Guild passionately teaches and promotes creative expression and artistic excellence in Fine Craft.

WHO WE ARE

The Louisiana Crafts Guild is a juried organization of Fine Crafts Artisans located throughout the state of Louisiana and the southern region of the United States. Because of our stringent jury requirements and dedication to excellence in fine craft, only three out of every ten applicants is approved for membership. Members of the Guild are active in their community and give back by providing demonstrations to schools, churches, libraries and other organizations. Our members’ generosity abounds with donations to support community events, non-profit organizations and fundraisers.

What We Do

We serve as a resource to artists and the community in several ways:

*Identification and promotion of fine craftsmen throughout the state.

*Centralized communication of calls to artists and artist opportunities.

*Workshops for artists throughout the state.

*Workshops for children and the community at the Acadiana Children’s Museum in Lafayette, Louisiana and several Guild sanctioned art shows.
