JOB DESCRIPTION
SERVICE DESK TECHNICIAN - VESSEL AND NETWORK PCs
INFORMATION SYSTEMS
I. BASIC FUNCTION
Support the setup, operation, and maintenance of company information and communication systems under the direction of the Service Desk Supervisor.
II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
a. Provide primary technical support to all CBC offices, vessels, and employees
b. Maintain operational status of all CBC hardware, software, and systems, including but not limited to:
i. Vessels PC’s and peripherals, network architecture and health, navigational software, operations software, communications systems, cell phones, and camera systems.
1. Provide on-site support of vessel’s hardware and software when necessary
ii. Shoreside PC’s and peripherals, employee account setups, transfers, and exits, company cell phones, desk phones, communications systems, operations software, accounting and invoicing systems, operations systems, purchasing systems, etc.
iii. Active Directory, Azure AD and O365 Admin, antivirus programs, remote management systems, endpoint management systems, MFA programs, and company VPN’s
c. Maintain Service Desk ticketing system, address tickets as assigned, and troubleshoot and resolve Service Desk issues according to SLA guidelines.
d. Maintain basic IT vendor accounts and relationships, order supplies, and maintain IT inventory
e. Provide general user training for basic company systems
f. Maintain documentation for Service Desk SOP’s
g. Maintain conduct in accordance with the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Philosophy.
h. Perform other duties as requested by immediate supervisor and department or group manager.
III. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
The Service Desk Technician is appointed by the Director of Information Systems and reports to the Service Desk Supervisor.
IV. JOB REQUIREMENTS
a. 4-year degree preferred.
b. Must be eligible to acquire a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card
c. Inland marine support desirable.
d. Minimum 2+ years of experience with hardware & basic office software systems used by the company.
e. Good communication skills, adaptability, willingness to learn new systems.
f. Be able to work in both stand-alone and team environments.
g. Must be able to travel to and traverse company towboats and barges.
h. The traversal of vessels includes stepping over heights of 24 inches and climbing stairs while wearing PPE.
i. Must be able to lift 25-40 pounds.
j. Reliable automobile transportation is required for travel to and from company vessels and offices (all business-related travel expenses are reimbursed, including mileage).
k. Ability to travel overnight as required.
