Woodworker Job Description

The Woodworker sets up woodworking machines and performs machine operations to mill rough lumber and layout, cut and assemble doors, window frames, cases, cabinets, and similar architectural millwork pieces and equipment.

Typical duties for this position include:

• Sets up and operates woodcutting, turning, shaping, molding, sanding, and surfacing machines used in manufacturing wooden parts for doors, window frames, cases, cabinets, and architectural millwork pieces, as guided by blueprints, mill tickets, and scale drawings
• Selects and installs cutting tools in a variety of woodworking machines
• Lubricates, adjusts, cleans, and maintains mill machines
• Checks the quality of lumber to be used in products
• Ability to read shop drawings
• May assist in preparing specifications for woodworking hardware and other materials
• Ability to use shaper
• Coordinate and work as a team
• Performs related duties as assigned

Required Experience

• 3+ Years experience 
• Self-motivated and willing to work and learn in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test

​Required Skills

• Physically able to lift, carry, move, and hold large pieces of wood and machinery for extended periods of time.
• Must be familiar with basic hand and power tools.
• Must have basic math skills and be able to take measurements.
• Must work efficiently, adhere to deadlines and communicate with supervisors.
• Must be able to work at heights and lift 100 lbs.

Preferred Job Skills Qualifications

• Ability to carry out not only simple but complex oral and written instructions.
• Ability to properly use measuring tools.
• Ability to read and understand English sufficiently.
• Ability to operate hand tools including but not limited to drills; grinders; heat guns; rivet guns.

This is a full time, permanent position. Hours are 7AM-4PM M-F, occasional overtime is expected in order to complete projects by deadline. Some Saturdays required.

Candidates must have transportation to the job sites in New Orleans.
