About Culture AID NOLA

Culture AID NOLA’s mission is to direct no-barrier, no-stigma aid to underserved members of New Orleans' cultural community with dignity, grace, and hospitality. Culture AID NOLA provides free groceries with no identification required, no proof of income required, and no questions asked. A non-traditional food bank serving free food in New Orleans, Culture Aid NOLA’s goal is to be a welcoming place where it is easy and stigma-free to get food for your family, friends, and neighbors. 


Culture AID NOLA is hiring a Development Manager to create and lead a fundraising strategy that will ensure greater sustainability for the organization.


Accountabilities:


Fund Development Strategy

  • Create and execute a fundraising plan that will meet Culture Aid Nola’s annual revenue goals and build a sustainable and thriving organization.


Corporate and Foundation Grants

  • Conducts prospect research and identifies corporate and foundation grant opportunities, with a goal of securing at least $200,000 annually in financial resources for the organization.
  • Creates a calendar to track proposal and reporting deadlines.
  • Writes and submits grant proposals and reports to donors. Gathers and synthesizes information to craft a compelling case for support for the organization.
  • Submits all grant proposals and reports on time, in adherence with requirements, and maintains all records of grants and donor communications.
  • Coordinates efforts with staff and grants committee.


Individual Giving 

  • Develops an individual giving strategy including major gifts, monthly giving, and digital marketing.
  • Cultivates, solicits, and stewards major donors. Creates a donor stewardship plan. Responsible for all donor communications and follow-up.
  • Executes at least five fundraising campaigns each year around key initiatives such as GiveNOLA Day, Giving Tuesday, Culture Aid Nola’s anniversary, etc.



Donor Relations

  • Manages communications with past, current, and prospective donors at all stages of the funding cycle.
  • Creates and maintains a donor database to track donor giving history, communications, and grant requirements and deadlines.


Other

  • Participates in meetings and committees as appropriate.
  • Complies with all Culture Aid Nola’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a professional, positive and courteous manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet company needs.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in grant writing, corporate and foundation relations, and raising funds from individual donors. Demonstrated track record of success in securing grant funding and executing fund development strategies. 
  • Must be able to take a grant proposal from start to finish (i.e., exceptional research, writing, and skills). Knowledge of corporate and foundation prospect research tools.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to communicate with diverse prospects and donors with varied interests and backgrounds. 
  • Experience with donor databases preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced-level knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Work Environment

The primary office setting (located in the administrative area) has high lighting levels, is temperature controlled, and has limited potential for hazards. This position requires working in an office setting 60% of the time and meeting with external constituents 40% of the time.  A vehicle is necessary as is current auto insurance. Some travel for meetings and training may be required.  Occasionally, the need to respond to issues outside of normal working hours (e.g., grant deadlines, special events, donor meetings, disaster response, etc.) and to assist with warehouse duties (especially during disasters) is required.
