Job Description

Salary:

  • $63,000-$84,840

Work Duration:

  • 9 Months
  • 183 Days
  • 7.5 Hours/Day

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret Audiological reports to determine eligibility for the receipt of Deaf/Hard of Hearing services
  • Educate teachers/staff regarding deaf/hard of hearing needs, accommodations, and modes of communication
  • Develop IEP goals that are data based and support the growth and development of students in the areas of learning, communication, and advocacy
  • Set rigorous yet appropriate learning outcomes
  • Establish supportive relationships with students
  • Engage students in meaningful, developmentally appropriate, real world discussions and learning activities
  • Collaboratively work with team members to fulfill the mission, vision and beliefs of both the school and the District

Certification Requirements:

  • Hold a valid teaching certificate in the State of Louisiana with certification in Special Education: Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Knowledge of the physiological, psychosocial, historical, sociological, and cultural aspects of
  • deafness
  • Proficiency and experience in educational audiology, auditory assistive devices (Hearing Aids, Cochlear Implants, FM systems) and technology
  • Proficiency in signed, cued, and/or oral communication
  • Knowledge in language development that includes linguistic principles and assessment strategies in language acquisitions for deaf and hard of hearing
  • School experience PREFERRED
