Job Description

The Batture is a riverfront green space in Uptown New Orleans featuring food vendors, open lawn, private events, and a growing market and bar concept. We are building a place that feels relaxed, intentional, and visually refined — an escape within the city.

We are seeking a Grounds & Garden Steward to help shape and maintain the physical environment of the property.

This is not a standard landscaping job. This role combines horticulture, hands-on problem solving, and creative stewardship.

Role Overview:

You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the overall look and feel of the property. This includes plant care, grounds upkeep, small repairs, and contributing to the evolving aesthetic of the space.

The right person will take pride in details, notice what needs attention without being told, and enjoy shaping a place that hundreds of people experience and enjoy each weekend.

Responsibilities:

Care for and maintain all plantings (watering, pruning, fertilizing, seasonal refresh)
Maintain overall cleanliness and visual order of the grounds
Identify and execute landscape improvements
Assist with small builds and repairs (planters, trellises, lighting adjustments, minor carpentry)
Monitor irrigation and drainage
Support event setup needs as they relate to the grounds
Proactively suggest aesthetic or functional improvements

Ideal Candidate:

Experienced with plant care and basic horticulture
Handy and comfortable using tools
Has a strong eye for visual detail and composition
Self-directed and reliable
Takes ownership of their work
Enjoys working outdoors
Values building something long-term

Experience in landscaping, garden design, fabrication, property maintenance, or a related field is preferred, but attitude and pride in workmanship matter most.

Structure & Compensation:

Full-time position (40 hours per week)
Flexible scheduling, with some weekend presence preferred
Competitive hourly pay based on experience

This role offers meaningful autonomy and the opportunity to influence
the look and feel of a growing riverfront destination.
