Middle School Language Arts Teacher (Grades 6–8)

Full-Time Position for the 2026–2027 School Year
St. Paul’s Episcopal School | Lakeview, New Orleans

St. Paul’s Episcopal School is seeking a Middle School Language Arts Teacher to deliver a literature-rich curriculum for grades 6–8. This position emphasizes classical and contemporary literature, analytical writing, grammar and composition, vocabulary development, research and MLA formatting, and strong oral communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Teach novels, poetry, drama, nonfiction, and historical literature in cultural context

·         Provide explicit instruction in grammar, composition, and structured writing

·         Guide students in literary analysis, research, and multi-paragraph essays

·         Assess student progress through quizzes, essays, projects, and presentations

·         Foster thoughtful discussion, civil discourse, and confident public speaking

·         Maintain a structured, respectful, academically focused classroom

·         Collaborate with colleagues and communicate regularly with parents

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field required

·         Teaching certification (or eligibility) preferred

·         Middle school teaching experience preferred

·         Strong command of grammar, writing instruction, and literary analysis

·         Commitment to academic excellence and character formation
