About the Role
Project Engineer Core Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Coordination
- Assist in the development of project plans as requested.
- Support the development, updating, and maintenance of project schedules and subcontractor detail schedules.
- Monitor and expedite material deliveries, ensuring alignment with the project schedule.
- Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in drawing coordination and document flow.
- Subcontractor & Cost Management
- Collaborate with Project Managers on purchasing activities, including scoping and take-offs.
- Administer subcontracts as assigned.
- Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Perform scope take-offs and assist with cost estimating.
- Draft and support change order documentation.
- Document Control & Technical Support
- Prepare, review, and forward submittals.
- Confirm submittals comply with project plans and specifications.
- Serve as a point person for document management applications and systems.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and organized project records.
- Project Closeout & Development
- Support project closeout activities, including assembling O&M manuals, warranties, and turnover documentation for owners.
- Assist with preparation of final payment documents for subcontractors.
- Participate in and, as appropriate, lead training sessions to support project and team development.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of experience in a Project Engineer or similar role within the construction industry (civil contractor experience preferred).
- Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination, and general project administration.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of Primavera preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction-related software systems.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong team orientation, reliability, and passion for the construction industry.
