Job Description

The Staff Therapist, Outreach Coordinator is part of a team of committed professionals dedicated to supporting and promoting student health and wellbeing as a core institutional value through a multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach. This position resides within Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS), and reports to the CAPS Associate Director or Director in the absence of the Associate Director. The individual in this role collaborates closely with the CAPS leadership (Director and Associate Director) in ensuring the availability of high-quality services to Tulane students, represents CAPS in the University community.

The Staff Therapist, Outreach Coordinator develops and implements strategies to raise awareness and engagement with the center's services by building relationships with community partners and referral sources, creating marketing materials, and organizing events and workshops. Key responsibilities include identifying community needs, presenting information, managing promotional messages, tracking data on outreach effectiveness, and collaborating with clinical staff to align outreach with clinical goals. The ideal candidate will provide an innovative vision and administrative organization to outreach service provision. The candidate should possess public speaking skills and demonstrate a commitment to mental health literacy and emotional wellness within a variety of student populations.

The Staff Therapist, Outreach Coordinator also conducts and supervises direct clinical services, including short-term individual therapy, group therapy and workshops, crisis response, outreach activities, community referrals, and consultations, along with working with staff in maintaining a consistently high standard of care. This position has responsibility for collaborating with other departments on campus, attending university functions, and serve on task forces and committees as assigned; and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education
  • Master’s Degree or other terminal degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or other closely related field
  • Licensed to practice clinical mental health therapy in the State of Louisiana or eligible by date of hire to obtain Louisiana licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience delivering group interventions (interpersonal, support, skill-building).
  • Experience working with university students in a university counseling setting.
  • Training and experience working with substance abuse issues.
  • Experience working with BIPOC students, students from all economic classes, first generation students, LGBTQ students, and international students.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle spontaneous work demands while undertaking projects that require advanced planning.
  • Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology, counseling, or social work and licensed to practice provision of mental health therapy services in the State of Louisiana or eligible by date of hire to obtain Louisiana licensure.
  • Training and experience in providing clinical supervision.
