Position Summary

The New Orleans Pride Center is seeking an exceptional community member to become our first paid staff as our Programs & Administrative Manager. This position is for someone passionate about our local LGBTQ+ community and excited to help the Pride Center grow as an organization. We want to acknowledge that we are an emergent nonprofit, so our pay doesn’t truly reflect what we’re asking for. We hope to grow this position into a full-time role over time and hire additional staff, but we do not know how long it will take to make those additions. In the meantime, the person stepping into this role will have a lot of support from a dedicated (and talented) board of directors.

The New Orleans Pride Center Programs & Administrative Manager plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations, programs, and communications of the New Orleans Pride Center. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, community-oriented, and passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and families. The Programs & Admin Manager serves as a welcoming presence in the Center, running weekly and monthly programs, coordinating the Center’s communications, and ensuring community members are connected to resources and support.

This role requires availability during late afternoon/early evening weekday hours and on Saturdays to align with program delivery and community access needs. Outside of programming commitments, there is significant flexibility with the schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Programs Support

  • Lead all core Pride Center programs, including planning, scheduling, room setup, materials, facilitation, and cleanup
  • Support volunteer engagement, including communication, coordination, and on-site assistance
  • Coordinate the use of the Pride Center by other community groups
  • Support special projects, such as community needs surveys and data collection initiatives
  • Assist with event production, including coordination, setup, execution, and breakdown

Communications & Community Engagement

  • Draft, produce, and distribute monthly newsletters

  • Serve as a liaison to community partners, fostering collaboration and coordination
  • Represent the Pride Center at tabling events, outreach activities, and community gatherings
  • Provide resource referrals to LGBTQ+ community members and allies seeking support and services
  • Host drop-in hours, serving as a welcoming, affirming, and knowledgeable point of contact at the Center
  • Provide routine monthly reports to the Board of Directors

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Manage accurate and timely data entry across organizational systems, including donor, volunteer, and program records
  • Produce and send donor acknowledgements on a monthly basis, ensuring accurate and timely stewardship
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming Pride Center facility, including shared office and program spaces
  • Manage incoming and outgoing communications via email, phone, and website contact forms
  • Track program participation and organizational impact for use in newsletters, reports, and funder communications
  • Track expenses against approved budgets and support financial reporting as needed

Qualifications

  • Commitment to serving and welcoming New Orleans’ diverse LGBTQ+ communities
  • Demonstrated experience in administrative, nonprofit, programs, or communications support roles
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort using Google Docs, email platforms (Mailchimp), and social media tools
  • Experience working with volunteers and community members
  • Excellence at self-management

Things that aren’t needed, but would be great

  • Any LGBTQ+ related public health or social work experience
  • Experience working with youth in a programmatic setting

Schedule & Physical Requirements

  • Availability for approximately 20 hours per week
