<dd><p></p><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Under the supervision of the Vice President of University Advancement, the Assistant Vice President of Development plans, directs, and executes all components of private source major gift fundraising, including immediate-use, capital, and endowed funds, both restricted and unrestricted, for the university. The Assistant Vice President manages a donor portfolio and personally recruits major gift support to the university. The Assistant Vice President supervises and directs all university development and gift & estate planning officers and is responsible for working closely with the individual colleges and program areas to ensure cohesion and continuous improvement in the fundraising program for each. </span><span style="color: inherit; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Lastly, the Assistant Vice President manages the Assistant Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations to ensure that gifts to the university are well-spent, and that donors receive accurate and timely reports and updates on the impact of their support.</span></p><br/><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">At Loyola University New Orleans, a major gift is defined as a gift with a minimum value of $25,000. A successful Assistant Vice President will develop and maintain a portfolio of approximately 50 major gift donors, and will submit a minimum of 16 formal gift proposals annually that yield on a regular basis numerous gifts of $25,000 to upwards of $3,000,000. When the university is in a comprehensive fundraising campaign, the Assistant Vice President serves as the logistical leader in the campaign and a key liaison to volunteers.</span></p><p></p></dd>

<dd><p></p><ul style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 3pt"><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Secures gifts of $25,000 or greater through direct cultivation and solicitation of alumni, other individuals, corporations, foundations, and other organizations. At least 15 percent of these gifts will be unrestricted gifts or gifts that provide budgetary relief to the comprehensive university budget. Develops knowledge of individual donors’ philanthropic goals and their interests in particular programs and priorities at Loyola University New Orleans.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">In a comprehensive campaign, serves as a key volunteer liaison and logistical leader in the development and execution of campaign goals.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Works with University Advancement’s research staff, to implement methods of identifying and qualifying alumni, corporations, foundations and friends capable of extending financial support. With staff support, manages the internal systems related to tracking development officer activity and productivity.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Assists the Vice President of University Advancement with the overall leadership gift program of the university, including planning and execution of comprehensive and other giving campaigns that include major gift elements.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Articulates the Jesuit educational mission of Loyola.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">In consultation with the VP and staff, establishes and adheres to annual operating budgets and ensures that development programs are operating in a fiscally prudent and productive way. </span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Advises university leadership, faculty, and staff regarding the likelihood of private gift support for specific programs and projects.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Promotes a sense of team purpose regarding advancement efforts and coordinates planning with other members of the Office of University Advancement to foster efficiency of effort and collaboration.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Works with the Stewardship & Advancement Information Services leadership and staff to ensure the receipt and thank-you activities associated with gifts and the reporting on use of gifts are executed in a timely and donor-centric fashion.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Provides advice, guidance, and training to college or campus staff members for the improvement of their skills in advancement.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Recruits and supports fundraising volunteers from among Loyola friends and alumni.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Supports the work of alumni programs through attendance at alumni events.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Travels monthly to further development efforts.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Attends events on nights and weekends regularly.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of University Advancement.</span></p></li><li style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-decoration: none"><p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Other duties as assigned.</span></p></li></ul><p></p></dd>
<dt><h2>Typical Qualifications</h2></dt>
<dd><p>Bachelor's degree required; master’s degree preferred<br/>Minimum of eight years of effective experience in major gift fundraising, including the direct solicitation of individual gifts of $25,000 or greater, in a non-profit environment<br/>Minimum of five years of experience in management and team leadership<br/>Progressive development experience in higher education or a related field, including strong knowledge of University structure, policies and practices.<br/>Strong writing and communication skills.<br/>Ability to organize and coordinate many details which occur simultaneously for various programs.<br/>Performance and conduct that demonstrates commitment to Loyola’s Jesuit educational mission.<br/><br/><br/><strong><br/>Preferred Qualifications: </strong><br/>Experience in managing a comprehensive fundraising campaign of $100 million or greater.<br/>Experience with software related to nonprofit management (Blackbaud or other donor database products).<br/>A thorough understanding and appreciation of Jesuit education, as well as the programs offered and sponsored by Loyola University New Orleans, and a basic appreciation and understanding of university culture.<br/><br/><br/><strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</strong><br/>Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.; ability to climb stairs easily; work at computer 80% of time.<br/>Ability to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.<br/><br/><br/></p></dd>
