POSITION TITLE: Career Success Coordinator

APPOINTMENT: Appointed by the Chancellor of the College upon recommendation of the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Student Success

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports directly to the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: The Career Success Coordinator develops, supports, and delivers comprehensive career readiness programming for students at River Parishes Community College. This position plays a key role in coordinating work-based learning (WBL) opportunities, facilitating job placement services, developing student career readiness skills, engaging employer and community partners, and maintaining essential career-related data and reporting systems. The Coordinator ensures students have access to high-quality, student-centered career development resources and programming across the college.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Associates degree
  • Bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • At least one year of experience working in a student services/support role or at an education institution with student services/support responsibilities.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Experience in career services, workforce development, academic advising, employer relations, or closely related functions.
  • Experience presenting workshops, training sessions, or student-facing educational content.
  • Proficiency with career-related software platforms, job boards, CRM systems, or student services tools.
  • Strong communication, organizational, data management, and relationship-building skills.

Job Duties and Other Information

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Career Readiness & Student Support
  • Facilitates student access to career preparation resources, including résumé development, interview preparation, job-seeking strategies, internships, pre and/or post apprenticeships, career fairs, and career exploration.
  • Provides individual and group consultations, in-class presentations, workshops, and electronic resources supporting student career success.
Work-Based Learning Coordination
  • Supports the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives with coordination of WBL programming, including approval of WBL placements, enrollment of students into credit-bearing WBL courses, and communication between students, faculty/site coordinators, and employer partners.
  • Ensures WBL processes are compliant, consistent, and student-centered.
Job Placement Support & Data Management
  • Provides job placement support for all RPCC students and maintains accurate job placement records.
  • Manages job placement databases, conducts follow-up communication and coordinates appropriate surveys to update placement information.
  • Tracks, maintains, and reports of job placement rates for each program of study.
Technology, Software & Web Management
  • Manages adopted software tools related to career exploration, job-posting boards, and related platforms to ensure comprehensive student access.
  • Ensures the Career Success webpage is maintained with current and relevant information.
Assessment & Reporting
  • Coordinates student and employer satisfaction surveys related to career preparation and placement.
  • Collaborates with the Institutional Research Office, the Financial Aid Office, and other RPCC units on reporting efforts related to career success.
  • Assists academic leadership and faculty with strategies to improve student employment outcomes across programs.
