The Port is seeking a skilled and motivated Port Facility Maintenance Specialist 1, 2, or 3 to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, and structural components of four movable bridges to ensure safe, reliable, and continuous operation. This role performs preventive maintenance, responds to emergency issues, supports bridge operations as needed, and works collaboratively with bridge operators and maintenance teams to protect public safety and infrastructure. Job Duties:

  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment replacement on mechanical, electrical, and structural systems across four movable bridges to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment—including motors, controls, lighting, traffic devices, and communication systems—while keeping work areas clean, safe, and operational.
  • Support bridge operations by maintaining operator certification, responding to routine and emergency inspections, participating in call-out rotations, and assisting with emergency and facility support tasks as needed.

Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Port Facility Maintenance Specialist 1, 2, or 3 Work Schedule: Work hours are 12-hour shifts. Compensation: This position is eligible for premium pay of up to $1.50 per hour.
