What You’ll Do  

The Equipment Manager reports to the Superintendent and oversees a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for the department equipment (may include carts and beverage carts from Pro Shop). This program includes, scheduled maintenance, the repair of failing equipment, record keeping of parts and labor, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment and service in the shop. The Equipment Manager properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the Superintendent. He or She places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance facility. The Equipment Manager will work with the Assistant and co-workers in training of service to equipment where needed.



Day to Day Responsibilities  

· Assist in Instructing and training golf course employees on the proper cleaning and safe operation of all equipment.

· Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work in regards to daily, weekly and monthly needs. Inspects, diagnoses, adjust and repairs mechanical defects/failures in maintenance equipment on a regular basis. Repairs and adjust cutting mechanisms on all mowers in department or ask to repair by supervisor.

· Have a working knowledge of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, hydrostatic drives, DC electrical systems and other related mowing and maintenance equipment. Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all equipment in department and equipment specified by General Manager for Tennis courts and cartshed.

· Performs the duties of Safety Officer of the department including first aid supplies, MSDS. Complies with proper recycling and or disposal of hazardous waste materials and fluids. updating and documenting, fire, safety and compliance.

· Builds a proper reel grinding schedule and tracking program and documents the adjustments throughout the seasons.

· Oversee the crew in the absence of the Superintendent and Assistant. May be responsible for running a crew every other weekend. Be able to work holidays (as defined by Audubon Nature Institute) as well as scheduled weekends, early morning shifts and overtime as required.

· Capable of using any of the equipment in the department.

Purchases repair parts and replacement supplies within given budget,

Assist in the purchasing process of the golf maintenance department. Purchases repair parts and replacement supplies within given budget, Maintains monthly budget records and cost analysis of maintenance equipment. Maintains Monthly Pcard records and reports per Audubon Guidelines.

Performs other duties as directed by Superintendent.

What We’re Looking For


Must Haves:  

· Two year’s mechanical experience including but not limited to small combustion engine, hydraulic theory, low voltage circuitry and welding. Golf Maintenance Mechanic is preferred.

· Knowledge of grinding and lapping of reels.

· Louisiana Driver’s License.

· Proficiency in Word, Excel and internet search.

· Ability to utilize all manner or hand equipment and self-propelled Machinery within the scope. of golf Maintenance equipment.

· Must have the ability to use mobile devices, computers, scanner, phone and copy machine.

· Electrical systems experience.

· Team player personality.

· Transportation to work.


Nice-to-Haves:  

· Mig, Tig and stick welding.

· Certificate or higher in equipment repair.

· Advance knowledge in Hydrostatic transmissions.

· A great troubleshooting personality.

· Fabrication experience.

· Experience using speed grinding machines.

· High organization skills


Physical Requirements:  


a. Continuous standing, walking, lifting, bending, and twisting.

b. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects weighing over 50 pounds, often repeatedly.

c. Regularly climbing ladders and operating heavy machinery.

d. Sustained manual dexterity and coordination.

e. Physical stamina for long shifts involving repetitive or strenuous tasks.

2. Environmental Conditions:

a. Primarily outdoor environments or industrial settings.

b. Frequent exposure to heat, cold, dust, fumes, or loud noises.

c. Exposure to potential hazards such as heavy machinery, moving vehicles, or electrical equipment.
