Job Description
Primary Objective/Position Summary:
Support the Marketing team in creating, developing, and managing social media content across all platforms for New Orleans & Company.
Major Areas of Accountability/Essential Duties:
- Manages the strategy, day-to-day operations, growth, and overall performance of all leisure and corporate social channels. Creates and drives campaign strategies aimed at attracting new and returning visitors to New Orleans. Modifies and optimizes tactics and messaging on a channel-by-channel basis, ensuring the right message is reaching the right audience in the most effective way.
- Assists in coordination of in-house paid social strategy and reporting in collaboration with the Director of Editorial and Content Marketing and the Senior Vice President of Marketing.
- Owns the management and strategic execution of the social media content calendar, ensuring that all content is up-to-date, accurate, and approved by internal partners.
- Takes a data-driven approach to collaborate with cross-functional team members to brief, concept, review, and refine and manage social content production on a daily basis, including video and photo shoots with industry stakeholders.
- Proactively monitors social media content trends and innovations and provides insights into how those could be implemented or leveraged where appropriate.
- Brainstorms upcoming editorial ideas and integrations between the website and social.
- Works with members of the community, festival organizers, and stakeholders to assist in event and business promotion / support through social media support. Foster and maintain relationships with key influencers and brand advocates to amplify reach and engagement.
- Oversees the coordination of local influencer campaigns, including contracts, deliverables, and messaging guidelines. Work in conjunction with the Communications & Public Relations department on national influencer partnerships, including vetting, deliverables, and feedback.
- As needed, assists in crisis and issue management on social, including identifying potential issues through social listening and recommending appropriate social responses.
- Manages and supports the Social Media Content Creators and Social Media interns in analytics reporting, goal setting, and community management.
- Provide opportunities for professional development for their team, including training and mentorship, to enhance team skills and career growth in order to encourage a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
- Works with department leadership to set and achieve measurable goals for both the social media team and the entire department to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
- Create and maintain effective, collaborative communication channels within the social media team and other departments to support overall company objectives.
- Perform other responsibilities or special projects as assigned by the Sr. VP, Director of Editorial & Content Marketing, Director of Campaign Operations, Director of Brand Strategy and the Senior VP of Communications & Public Relations.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or university; and six to ten years related experience managing social media brand channels and working cross functionally with internal teams and stakeholders; and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ideal Candidate:
· Dreams in data and lives on social. Fluent in trends and internet speak, but able to translate that to key business objectives and stakeholder needs.
· Knows their way around Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social (or equivalent), and InShot/CapCut (or equivalent).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Experience working with social platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, X, etc.)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite or similar. Knowledge of spreadsheets and database programs, desired. Prior experience with a CRM or data management system a plus.
· Strong problem-solving abilities; initiative-taking.
· Ability to manage multiple objectives simultaneously and prioritize appropriately.
· Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, members, and/or employees of the organization.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
· Attention to detail with high level of accuracy and follow-through.
· Ability to work independently and more importantly, as part of a team.
