Job Description

Position Overview:
The Civil Construction Estimator supports bid development and prepares accurate, competitive estimates for heavy civil construction projects. Experienced estimators may lead bids and pricing strategy, while entry-level candidates will receive hands-on training and exposure to real civil and federal work. This role offers clear growth opportunities for driven, detail-oriented individuals who want ownership and a long-term career in construction estimating.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate, competitive project budgets and estimates, including quantity takeoffs and pricing
- Review plans and specifications; develop scopes of work and solicit subcontractor and vendor bids
- Manage bid processes, including bid forms, tabulations, trade comparisons, and award recommendations
- Develop preliminary schedules to support bidding and pricing strategies
- Support contract awards and lead bid turnover to Project Managers and Superintendents
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and industry partners
- Prepare written proposals and supporting documents, including technical and past performance narratives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, or related field (preferred), or equivalent experience
- 2-3 years of heavy civil estimating experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and technical aptitude
- Working knowledge of RFP/RFQ/RFI processes and contract documentation
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines under pressure
- Professional written and verbal communication skills, including experience with government stakeholders
- Self-starter mindset with flexibility to learn and take on new responsibilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (preferred)
