$16.00 per hour

WORK DATESSHORT TERM, SEASONAL POSITION

April 13 to May 8, 2026 (FULL TIME)

In-person interviews will be held on the morning of Saturday, February 21, 2026.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Barricade Crew supports the deployment, maintenance, adjustment, inventory, documentation, and removal of all barricades and traffic-control barriers used throughout the Festival and surrounding neighborhoods. Barricades are a critical component of on-site and off-site traffic, transportation,

pedestrian flow, and public safety operations, and this role plays a key part in ensuring safe, accurate, and consistent installation across all assigned areas.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Barricade Deployment & Maintenance

  • Review and understand approved site maps, layouts, and deployment plans prior to and during installation.
  • Work as part of a coordinated crew to deploy, adjust, and remove barricades and barriers according to operational needs.
  • Assist with the placement of barrels, cones, fencing, and related traffic-control devices as assigned.
  • Install barricades and barriers across multiple locations, including:

○ Festival site

○ Parking lots and dirt track

○ Infield and perimeter areas

○ Staff and public shuttle lots

○ Public streets and taxi zones

○ Adjacent neighborhoods and parks


Inventory, Tracking & Documentation

  • Assist with counting and verifying barricade inventory upon arrival and during deployment.
  • Apply required covers, signage, and identification to barricades as directed.
  • Photograph installations as needed to document placement, coverage, and compliance.
  • Communicate discrepancies, shortages, or damage to supervisors promptly.

Adjustments &Strike

  • Monitor barricade placements throughout the Festival and make real-time adjustments as directed by Fair Operations leadership.
  • Assist with the strike and breakdown of all barricade installations at the conclusion of the event.
  • Ensure barricades and related equipment are stacked, staged, and returned in proper condition for vendor pickup or storage.

Safety & Team Operations

  • Maintain situational awareness and follow all safety procedures when working around vehicles, pedestrians, and heavy equipment.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, crew members, and other departments during deployment and adjustments.
  • Perform additional logistics-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Using the Absentee Request Form, it is the responsibility of each employee and their supervisor to accurately report their absenteeism to the HR Office.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.
  • Must attend and complete any required training.
  • Any document, computer program, design or other intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival belongs to the Jazz Festival and must be given to the Festival through your supervisor or department head at the end of each production year, or upon request.
  • Must complete all required Feedback Forms and Final reports.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Team-oriented mindset with strong follow-through and situational awareness.
  • Ability to perform physical installations, including barricades, barrels, fencing, and signage.
  • Endurance for long hours in an active, high-pressure outdoor production environment, including all weather conditions.
  • Experience with event logistics, public safety, traffic flow, parking operations, or crowd management preferred.
  • Certification or experience operating heavy equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely use basic tools (e.g., screw gun, hammer, saw).
