Job Description

Student Support Services (SSS) is dedicated to increasing student retention, academic success, and degree completion at the University of New Orleans. The program provides comprehensive academic and non-academic support services at no cost to eligible students, with a focus on supporting those who meet federal income guidelines, are first-generation college students, and/or have documented disabilities. Through individualized guidance and targeted resources, SSS equips students with the tools necessary to succeed academically and persist to graduation.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the selection, training, and supervision of Peer Tutors and Supplemental Instruction Leaders (25%)
  • Provide support services with program participants in the areas of academic, personal, financial literacy and vocational matters (20%)
  • Maintain records and files for each participant (10%)
  • Organize and implement the SSS mentoring program (10%)
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of cultural and enrichment activities (10%)
  • Assist in the UNIV 1001 (University Success) and/or ACOR 1006 (Academic Orientation - Career Exploration) courses (5%)
  • Responsible for payroll records for student workers. Responsible for payroll records for student workers (5%)
  • Assist in Student Support Services recruitment and public relations activities. (5%)
  • Assist in the preparation and completion of required reports (5%)
  • Perform other relate duties as assigned (5%)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in working with low-income, first generation students.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience in supervising or working directly with a tutoring program.
  • Computer competency in MS Office Suite.
  • Direct experience in website and/or budget management.
