Job Description
Position Summary
The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for leading all marketing, communications, events, and operational support for the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce. This role plays a critical part in promoting Chamber initiatives, supporting member engagement, and executing a robust calendar of events and programs throughout the year. The Marketing & Communications Manager works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and committees to ensure consistent messaging, strong branding, and successful events that advance the Chamber’s mission.
This position requires flexibility, creativity, strong organizational skills, and comfort working evenings and weekends for Chamber events.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a motivated, organized professional who enjoys working collaboratively in a small nonprofit environment. They are comfortable working with Board members, committees, volunteers, and community partners, and they communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal settings. This individual is proactive, detail-oriented, and able to balance multiple projects while taking initiative and following through on ideas from concept to execution. A willingness to learn, adapt, and support the mission of the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce is essential.
Essential Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
• Develop and execute a marketing plan for each Chamber initiative, program, and major event
• Manage all Chamber social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and future platforms as needed
• Create written content, including press releases, media advisories, email campaigns, website copy, and promotional messaging
• Design and produce digital and print marketing materials, including graphics, flyers, signage, programs, billboards, and advertisements
• Maintain and update the Chamber website, sponsor listings, and event pages
• Produce and manage content for video and digital media platforms
• Compile, design, and manage production of the Annual Chamber Directory and Leadership St. Bernard Directory
• Track marketing budgets and manage costs for promotional materials and campaigns
• Provide regular marketing updates and reports to the Board of Directors and committees
Events & Programs
• Coordinate logistics for 20 or more annual Chamber events, including networking events, after-hours socials, leadership programs, awards events, Tour Da Parish, and other community initiatives
• Manage event registration, vendor coordination, sponsorship fulfillment, and on-site logistics
• Oversee event setup and breakdown, including signage, materials, and sponsor recognition
• Attend and support evening and weekend events as required
• Assist with planning and execution of new programs and special initiatives
Administrative & Operations Support
• Manage the membership database and assist with invoicing and member communications
• Maintain accurate records and assist with day-to-day office operations
• Take and prepare Board meeting minutes
• Support the Executive Director with committee coordination and organizational tasks
• Answer and route incoming office phone calls in a professional and courteous manner
• Monitor and respond to general Chamber email inquiries and direct messages promptly
• Serve as a primary point of contact for members, partners, and the public
Required Qualifications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience managing social media platforms for an organization
• Event planning, coordination, and logistics experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Positive, professional, customer service-oriented attitude
• Comfortable working with business and community leaders
• Ability to work in the office daily
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with website management or content management systems
• Graphic design experience
• bachelor’s degree or two or more years of relevant experience
• Familiarity with nonprofit organizations or chambers of commerce
• Experience with fundraising, sponsorships, or volunteer engagement
Work Schedule & Expectations
This position requires flexibility. Evening and weekend work is expected for Chamber events, networking socials, and major initiatives. Some travel within the Greater New Orleans Region is required. Office hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation for the Marketing & Communications Manager position is $32,000 to $40,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include paid vacation and sick leave, professional development opportunities, and flexible work arrangements.
