$18.00 per hour
TIME FRAME: SHORT TERM, SEASONAL POSITION
April 20th to May 03, 2026
POSITION SUMMARY
The Recycling Rewards Tent Captain oversees the smooth operation of the tent, managing the distribution and return of recyclable materials by festival-goers who enroll in the program. Additionally, the Recycling Rewards Tent Captain handles the tracking and distribution of relevant incentives to participants. The tents will be staffed by a combination of volunteers and paid workers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Verify the initial and final inventory of mesh bags distributed to program participants.
- Ensure tablets are fully charged and operational during tent hours (10am-7pm).
- Assist program participants in signing up for the Recycling Rewards program.
- Ensure clear understanding of roles and responsibilities among volunteers and paid staff.
- Track the number of mesh bags distributed and returned by festival-goers.
- Ensure the collection and recycling of used mesh bags.
- Restock mesh bags as required.
- Track the number of bags containing cans and plastic bottles for recycling.
- Distribute and monitor incentives for participants returning with their mesh bag of recyclables.
- Record the aforementioned data on Daily Recycling Rewards Tent spreadsheets.
- Complete opening duties at the start of each day to prepare the Rewards Tent for patrons and volunteers.
- Complete closing duties at the end of each day to reset the Rewards Tent for the following day.
- Submit report and evaluation forms after each festival weekend.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Customer service experience is beneficial.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
- Preference for candidates with a passion for the environment and recycling.
- Proficient with computers, including Google Spreadsheets and Docs.
- Experience in volunteer/staff management.
- Ability to sort recyclable materials by hand, by type (aluminum, plastic).
- Capable of working outdoors for 10-12 hours a day during festival days (April 25-28, May 2-5).
- Able to lift full bags of recyclable materials (up to 50 pounds).
- Able to move swiftly across fields.
- Responsible for other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Accurate reporting of absenteeism is required.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding program participation and sensitive issues.
- Prohibited from posting on social media about any aspects of the position.
- Any intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival belongs to the Festival and must be surrendered at the end of each production year or upon request.
- Completion of all required Feedback/Evaluation Forms and Final Reports is mandatory.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
