Job Summary/Purpose Ensures proper and comprehensive project controls are implemented on capital projects. Ensures deliverables in the area of cost, schedule, scope and risk are developed in line with the requirements of the Stage Gate Process. Supports the project control managers with decisions associated with controls on projects and review project status reports and performance metrics as projects progress. Provides direct oversight, coaching and support to project controls managers and project controls specialists throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manages an assigned team of project controls managers, specialists and analysts. Provides oversight, support and coaching to the project controls staff.
  • Ensures project controls are implemented on assigned capital projects in line with Management Standards and Stage Gate Process requirements.
  • Collaborates closely with project management to assess project team performance and address any gaps, identify project risks and develop mitigation plans and identify project issues and formulate plans to address the issues.
  • Reviews and validates project status reports and performance metrics for all assigned projects.
  • Provides information and reports related to project progress, estimates at completion and compliance with project controls standards to executives and to project steering committees. Provides input to progress reports filed with regulatory bodies.
  • Identifies gaps in Entergy's project control environment and takes proactive steps to implement improvements and strengthen controls.
  • Proven track record on managing large CCCT Projects/Programs for Owner and EPC organizations. Should have worked on Projects of \$1 Billion dollar plus in managerial project controls. Contract and change order acumen.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred advanced degree.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • 12+ years’ experience in Generation
  • At least 12 years’ experience in large capital project management desired.
  • Desired: Individual should have strong knowledge in Project cost controls and cost engineering and should have 3 + years of field experience on Mega Projects of \$1B and greater.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

  • History of safe performance, active safety involvement and participation and strong desire for a safer workplace.
  • Experience with reviewing, executing, and managing large EPC contracts.
  • Knowledge of processes and key performance indicators for capital projects process planning and asset management.
  • Strong contract negotiation, conflict resolution, problem solving, team building, interpersonal and group communication skills.
  • Demonstrated history of Planning/Organization/Time Management skills.
  • Project risk identification, mitigation, and management skills.
  • Ability to make “quick” decisions calmly while evaluating multiple options.
  • Applies understanding of how the team relates to other closely related teams to improve efficiency of own business unit.
  • Written report and presentation skill proficiency.
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel & Outlook, Power Point).
  • Requires comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within own discipline and knowledge of others.
  • Applies in-depth understanding of how own discipline integrates within the function.
  • Manages multiple related teams, sets organizational priorities and allocates resources.
  • Impacts the business results of a sub-function by supporting and funding of projects, products, services and/or technologies and developing policies and plans. Guided by functional business plans.
  • Influences others internally and externally, including senior leaders.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

  • Desired: PMP Certification
