Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of a physician or mid-level provider in a clinical setting. Responsible for performing routine clinical and administrative duties in accordance with clinic policies and procedures. Responsible for floating to various Pediatric Clinics as needed.

Job Duties

  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms.
  • Obtains and records vital signs, chief complaint, and history.
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment.
  • Assists the physician or mid-level provider with procedures and treatments.
  • Administers medications and treatments as directed by the physician or mid-level provider.
  • Performs laboratory tests and collects specimens as directed.
  • Maintains cleanliness and stocking of exam rooms.
  • Maintains patient records and documentation.
  • Answers phones and manages patient correspondence.
  • Schedules appointments and follows up with patients.
  • Adheres to all safety and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Floats to various Pediatric Clinics as needed to support staffing needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.

Experience

  • One (1) year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Experience in Pediatrics preferred.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification preferred.
