About the Role
We’re looking for a Health and Safety Coordinator that will partner closely with both the Safety and Wellness and Benefits functions. This role supports health and safety initiatives, wellness strategies, and related programs that contribute to a high-performance, employee-focused culture. The Health and Safety Coordinator provides administrative, coordination, and operational support across benefits, wellness, and safety programs and reports directly to the Director of Benefits and Wellness.
Core Responsibilities
- Benefits and Wellness Program Support
- Support daily administration of self-insured medical plans and fully insured dental, vision, life, and disability plans, including new hire enrollments, open enrollment, and qualifying life events.
- Assist with employee benefits inquiries and support resolution of benefits-related issues.
- Collaborate with third-party administrators, insurance carriers, and benefits consultants as needed to support benefits operations.
- Assist with the creation and delivery of employee benefits communications and presentations, including open enrollment materials, plan updates, wellness programs, and new hire orientation content.
- Support wellness education initiatives, including incentive programs, flu shots, biometric screenings, and other health-related offerings.
- Assist in planning and executing the annual wellness fair and ongoing wellness initiatives such as Wellness Wednesday and other RNGD health-focused programs.
- Safety Program Administration and Training Coordination
- Complete safety onboarding tasks for new hires, including required checklist items and documentation within Monday.com.
- Maintain employee safety records and training files, including monitoring certificates and managing updates within HCSS and Bridge LMS.
- Track, download, and reconcile safety training reports to ensure accurate and up-to-date compliance records.
- Schedule and coordinate safety training programs, including OSHA, Traffic Control, TWIC, First Aid/CPR, and third-party training such as Crane and Trench/Excavation certifications.
- Manage initial and refresher training schedules for task-specific certifications, including Flagger, Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, and annual Defensive Driver training.
- Safety Programs, Recognition, and Compliance Support
- Administer the company boot program, including sending 90-day surveys, coordinating reorders, placing boot orders, verifying invoices, distributing boots, and supporting company store integration.
- Maintain Safety and Risk dashboards to support reporting and visibility into training, compliance, and program status.
- Coordinate safety recognition programs, including Crew of the Month lunches and Safe Employee gift distribution.
- Assist with front-end tasks related to random drug screening programs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Support additional duties as assigned to assist with growth and operational needs within the Risk Management Department.
- Collaborate with Safety, Benefits, Employee Resource Manager, and Operations teams to ensure alignment and effective program execution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting benefits administration, wellness programs, safety programs, or HR operations preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn systems such as HCSS, Bridge LMS, and Monday.com.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Experience in construction, safety, or a regulated environment is a plus.
