JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Director of Finance Operations will oversee several key services within the Entergy Shared Services (ESS) organization within Technology and Business Services (TBS). He/she will be responsible for setting the strategic direction and providing governance and oversight over four key business processes: Accounts Payable, Financial Operation Programs (Travel, Expense, Credit Cards and Supplemental Labor), Payroll, Cash Operations and Shareholder Services. He/she will be responsible for the delivery of these critical services to the business and for the related financial/operational controls, compliance, and system policy governance. He/she will establish service levels, set targets aligned with best-in-class performance, drive automation and continuous improvement and will manage and develop Finance Operations people and capabilities. He/she will serve as the liaison between several related departments including Supply Chain, Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Internal and External Audit, Human Resources, Information Technology and Finance Business Partners.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide day-to-day oversight and support of the four critical business processes: Accounts Payable, Financial Operations Programs, Payroll, Cash Operations and Shareholder Services. This includes critical decision making, issue resolution and collaboration with other departments.
  • Establish targets and departmental metrics which are reported monthly to the VP of Shared Services and SVP of Technology and Business Services.
  • Ensure continued delivery of critical services to align with the needs of the business. This includes ensuring operations are not interrupted during business events such as storms, IT outages, and other incidents.
  • Implementing a rigorous and ever evolving system of financial and operational controls to minimize errors, fraud, cyber risk and to ensure the accuracy and reasonableness of financial information in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley, tax laws and finally Entergy system and accounting policies. Quarterly Certifications of Compliance are required.
  • Oversee the security and maintenance of critical business applications which are primarily PeopleSoft (Accounts Payable, Payroll, Time and Labor, Financial Gateway, Cash Ops), Concur, and Beeline VMS. Coordination with IT resources who support the various applications is required for enhancements, support, routine updates, patching, testing of any changes, interfaces with various enterprise systems, etc.
  • Collaboration and relationship building is a critical component of this job. Many of the processes in the department cross multiple departments and functions through projects, process improvement activities, issue resolution or day to day activities. The ability to form relationships, collaborate with others and unite to solve problems is a necessity.
  • The role is expected to participate in special projects, drive continuous improvement activities, strive for process excellence, benchmark with others, and serve on advisory committees, steering committees, or other forums to provide insights, guidance, support and direction. Keeping a pulse on external trends, benchmarks is expected.
  • Oversee the performance of the vendor that performs stock transfer agent services (maintains Entergy’s stock records) for the company including approving the common stock and preferred stock dividend payments quarterly.
  • Oversee critical contracts include credit card agreements, cloud-based agreement for Entergy’s time and expense reconciliation tool Concur, Pinnacle - the managed service provider, and Beeline (Vendor Management System).
  • Approves debt interest payments monthly in accordance with pre-approved debt schedules.
  • Drive process excellence, continuous improvement, and support end to end process perspective. Knowledge of upstream and downstream processes and technology is critical.
  • Manage and develop the employee capabilities within the ESS Finance Operations function for functional and process excellence and support development of career path and talent pipelines
