Job Description

The official job title for this position will be IT Specialist I, II or Senior depending on relevant years of experience. This is a hybrid position located in Jackson, MS, Little Rock, AR, New Orleans, LA or The Woodlands, TX. Relocation assistance and sponsorship is not provided.

POSITION PURPOSE: This role provides support and advanced expertise of Operations Technology (OT) applications in a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) environment. The primary responsibilities include day-to-day support for host modeling and display building for the Entergy Transmission & Distribution EMS SCADA Systems.

Primary Duties & Areas of Responsibility:

  • Provide operational support, ensuring production systems and devices are online and available; this includes non-business hours on-call support
  • Experience and/or familiarity with distribution automation and self-healing networks. This includes IP/DNP troubleshooting and network diagnostics that support a distribution automation infrastructure.
  • GE EMS/SCADA expertise
  • Alstom e-terrasource experience a plus
  • SCADA - experience with RTU modeling and calculations
  • Display building experience (WebFG)
  • Design Host System configurations to support RTU installations and protocol definitions.
  • Perform database analysis in response to data requests from Engineering and Capital Construction and Operations and Maintenance organizations.
  • Verify system operation, database integrity, and data presentation effectiveness on a routine basis, responding to dispatcher requests for assistance, repairs, and improvements.
  • Provide routine and emergency support for Host System operations systems and application software
  • Design, create, and implement EMS/SCADA-related special projects
  • Coordinate database modifications with all Operations Centers
  • Respond to Service Now requests for support from TCC/DOC Operations
  • Provide customer support and services for reported issues, service requests and inquiries
  • Effectively communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing
  • Participate in the team 24 hour on-call rotation

Minimum Educational Background and Physical Requirements Required to perform Job:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Experience Equivalent; Master’s Degree preferred

Minimum Experience and Knowledge Required to perform job:

  • IT Specialist I: 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • IT Specialist II: 2+ years of relevant experience
  • IT Specialist Sr: 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong track record of relevant technology delivery
  • Design, development and testing of real time systems applications and enhancements
  • Database Administration – experience with development, testing, and operating databases
  • Other position that would support the development and progression into this position would include the following: IT Specialist Sr, IT Consultant.

Critical Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a fast pace and dynamic environment, including work outside of normal business hours
  • Ability to support real-time systems
  • Ability to support cyber security activities such as, system hardening, patch management, and configuration management
  • Knowledge of security controls testing, security audits, and security assessments
  • Ability to support of fraud and computer forensics research
