Job Description
Xavier University of Louisiana invites applications for a Research Assistant. Applicant must have a BS or MS in biomedical science or biology-related discipline with a solid background in molecular and cellular biology. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Report to the PI of the lab.
- Maintain Cell cultures for bioassays and other needs.
- Perform receptor binding assays using commercial kits involving recombinant receptors.
- Plate and dose cells for the reporter gene, gene array, proliferation, survival, and other bioassays.
- Maintain lab environment including daily and weekly lab maintenance and cleaning as required.
- Interact with others in the core lab to address multiple aspects of projects.
- Attend and report at the lab and/or meetings with PI.
- Report all activities in the lab notebook and electronic reporting system as directed.
- Perform data analysis of results as needed.
- Learn the operation of lab equipment and instruments software as needed.
- Work limited extended or additional hours as needed in cooperation with others in the core lab to maintain cells and ongoing research activities during holidays or weekends.
- Participate in core hurricane evacuation plan for the duration of storm events including participating in online and/or phone interactions with the CMB core team, core clients (process core lab data) and/or work on other core lab-related activities (manuscripts, grants, protocols, training).
- Comply with all division, college, and university rules and guidelines as detailed in the staff handbook.
