Job Summary/Purpose

The Unmanned Aerial Systems Pilot I or II performs all flights, collateral duties, and assigned crew duties - including Remote Pilot In Command, Visual Observer, and Sensor Operator - associated with the operation of UAS/UA/Drones for company asset inspection. The primary responsibility of this role is to perform routine and comprehensive UAS patrols and data collection analysis while also assisting with fast response outage and post-storm inspections. In addition to the duties above, UAS Pilot I or II will ensure coordination of safe operations among all aircraft operating by or on behalf of the Company.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Safely and securely pilot Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), act as a Visual Observer (VO), or Sensor Operator (SO) in accordance with federal, state, and local laws as well as company policy.
  • Manage, process, and analyze data collected via UAS and other sensor collection platforms and perform data quality assurance tasks to ensure accurate data is used in reports, databases, and file structures. Provides complete and accurate data sets to requesting entity.
  • Perform pre-mission planning, flight notifications, automation planning, pre-job briefings, pre-flight and post-flight inspections before and after each flight, respectively, risk assessments, debriefings, and post-mission reporting in accordance with the Unmanned Aerial System Operations Manual (UASOM).
  • Ensures operational status of UAS equipment by conducting pre- and post-flight inspections and conducting routine maintenance inspections and repairs on UAS equipment.
  • Become an integral part of Entergy Aviation’s Safety Culture by participating in the Entergy Aviation Safety Management System to include UAS specific incident/accident reporting.
  • Complete collateral duties, as assigned, and company administrative requirements in timely and professional manner.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders and present UAS inspection findings in clear and concise format.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education and experience required for **UAS Pilot I position** Associate’s degree in surveying, Engineering Technology, or a related field of study or 2 years of flight experience as a Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot and 100 hours of verifiable experience in Commercial UAS Operations

Minimum education and experience required for **UAS Pilot II position** Associate’s degree in surveying, Engineering Technology, or a related field of study and 2 years of flight experience as a Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot and 100 hours of verifiable experience in Commercial UAS. In lieu of degree, 2-4 years of flight experience as a Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot and 200 hours of verifiable experience in Commercial UAS Operations.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position(s)

  • Demonstrated strong working knowledge of unmanned aerial systems and operating requirements.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of the Federal regulations and standards relating to unmanned aircraft commercial flight operations.
  • Familiarity with traditional photogrammetry and advanced photography knowledge.
  • Understanding or experience with LiDAR and general remote sensing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer office skills in flight planning, scheduling, Microsoft tools, and expense software.

Certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position(s) FAA Part 107 License, be able to obtain and hold a State issued Drivers License with a GVW of 26,000lbs, be DOT medically certified and maintain that certification.

Preferred experience, certificates, licenses, etc. (Not Required, but is a plus)

  • Electrical and Gas Infrastructure experience.
  • 2 years of experience with LiDAR, remote sensing, and traditional photogrammetry.

Additional Responsibilities: As a provider of essential services, Entergy expects its employees to be available to work additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company. Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties.
