PMO Department Overview: The Engineering PMO Department

The Engineering PMO Department provides the structure and oversight that support Ampirical’s engineering teams in delivering high-quality power delivery projects. The department manages scope, schedule, budget, and risk while ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and industry standards. Serving as a central hub for coordination, communication, and project controls, the PMO drives consistency, accountability, and smooth execution across all engineering projects.

Your Role: Senior Project Controls Scheduler

Ampirical is seeking a Senior Project Controls Scheduler to lead schedule development, schedule analysis, and performance tracking for engineering projects supporting power delivery across the U.S. This role is essential to maintaining accurate project timelines, identifying risks, and driving schedule integrity for complex utility projects.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead schedule reviews, baseline approvals, and schedule health assessments to ensure alignment with project strategies.
  • Develop, analyze, and refine project schedules in Primavera P6, MS Project, and related tools.
  • Mentor teammates on scheduling logic, methodology, resource loading, and best practices.
  • Support recovery planning, risk modeling, “what-if” analysis, and critical path management.
  • Review schedules from clients, vendors, subcontractors, and engineering teams; recommend improvements.
  • Integrate cost and schedule data to support earned value analysis and forecasting.
  • Contribute to reporting, workflow improvements, and continuous optimization of project controls processes.
What You Bring
  • 10+ years of scheduling / project controls experience, highly preferred in the utility engineering industry
  • Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree)
  • Expertise in P6, MS Project, and schedule analytics
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage complex, multi-project scheduling environments
  • Attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and a collaborative mindset
  • P6 certification preferred

Benefits

Salary Range: $100,000 – $200,000. Actual compensation will vary based on experience, education, and qualifications, as well as the specific office location. This range reflects all Ampirical locations.
