Job Description

This position is responsible for the marketing films and events for the Overlook Film Festival, including creating marketing strategy, timelines, schedules and materials as well as liaising with local partners to promote the festival to the New Orleans audiences in the months leading up to the festival. 

This is a part-time contract position from January 5, 2026 - April 24, 2026 that will require longer hours in the weeks leading up to and during the festival.


Principal Duties:

  • Promote individual festival programs including films and live events via social media, local press and community partners
  • Identify target audiences for each festival program and outreach for each show as needed
  • Maintain and implement festival marketing budget and track marketing expenses
  • Create and oversee promotional schedule for all marketing (including digital, print, newsletter and social media) and track reach
  • Work with local advertising and community partners for in kind trades, outreach for advertising opportunities and trades as needed
  • Capture and provide relevant marketing data for ongoing grant and sponsor reporting
  • Ensure any sponsor or grant requirements for marketing materials are implemented on applicable advertising
  • Work with Local Festival Publicist to ascertain relevant local press that can aid in festival marketing
  • Track and organize all marketing assets and materials and disseminate to departments in need of them
  • Ability to design graphics for social media and festival newsletters, as needed.
  • Track all marketing metrics and provide final report of data analysis for activities
  • Prepare wrap report that summarizes local marketing successes and failures


Position Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of local marketing experience for non-profits or events. Experience with film festivals is preferred.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to work well on a team, take direction, demonstrate initiative and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Conflict management and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of databases along with proficiency in Canva, Google and Adobe products.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work around key deadlines and events. The 2026 Overlook Film Festival will take place April 9-12, 2026
  • Must be based in the New Orleans area or have regular access to the city and venues of the festival.
