Education

  • Required – High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred – Associate’s degree in biology, microbiology, dietetic science.

Work Experience

  • Required - 1 year of experience in healthcare or related field.

Certification

  • Required - Food Handler Certification within 1 month and a Good Manufacturing Practices Certification (cGMP) within 3 months of date of hire.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSA)

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications (word, excel), various software applications specific to role, and storage of documents in secure drive.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to communicate with customer using effective verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to summarize and analyze milk bank data.
  • A demonstrated knowledge proficiency in Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA).

Job Duties

  • Responsible for adhering to the most current Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA) and General Manufacturing Practices (GMP) regulations and processes. The regulations and standard operating processes for the following: scrubbing into lab, donning appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), consistent hand hygiene, milk processing (defrosting, straining, mixing, bottling, capping, pasteurizing, labeling, shipping, receiving, milk sampling for nutritional analysis and microbiology testing).
  • Charged with proper care, maintenance, sterilization, and utilization of the of equipment Milk Bank facility and lab equipment to include the following: dishwasher, paddle mixer, dispensing pump, pasteurizers, centrifuge, nutrition analyzer, labeling system, ante lab, and freezer room.
  • Accountable for managing milk bank inventory and supplies to include documenting, receiving, shipping, inventory rotation, removal of expired milk, in addition following proper freezing and thawing procedures.
  • Expected to collect test samples, run nutrition analysis, report findings, and document milk quality data metrics.
  • Assist leadership with maintain and adjusting workflow based on supply and demand.
  • Adapts behavior to specific population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, adapting explanation of service and procedures to be performed.
