Job Description
The LSUHSC Cancer Center is seeking a Research Associate 2 (RA2) to plan, assist and conduct laboratory experiments on the research project "A Mechanistic Study to elucidate the role of Protein S in elevating the risk of Thrombosis in Obese, Pre-menopausal women”.
The incumbent is expected to manage and perform general day-to-day lab operations including:
- Daily and routine maintenance of lab equipment and instruments
- Lab safety inspection and management
They will also:
- Analyze, summarize, and organize collected data together with the Principal Investigator
- Draft, edit and revise reports and manuscripts for publication in professional journals
- Purchase and/or recommend purchase of lab supplies, reagents and new equipment for research projects
The incumbent must have the ability to travel to various clinics/sites with reliable transportation as they may be required to:
- Collect/draw blood from study participants
- Isolate plasma
- Perform immunoblotting and various coagulation assays using Spectrophotometer
- Conduct protein purification using HPLC, FPLC techniques
Successful candidates must be able to work with a high degree of self-motivation.
