LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our faculty as a Nurse Scientist.

Our School of Nursing is recognized for its excellence within an academic health sciences center environment, offering a unique opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary research and innovation. Our nursing faculty have the opportunity to educate future nurses at the BSN, MN/MSN, DNP and PhD levels, including working in state-of-the-art simulation laboratories.

This role includes:

• Pursuing entrepreneurial and consultative activities

We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong research focus in cancer care, including cancer prevention, treatment, survivorship, or palliative care.

Incumbent will:

• Mentor students and junior faculty, participate in curriculum development, and promote excellence in cancer care research and nursing education.
• Engage in high-impact interdisciplinary research collaborations within the academic health sciences center and across diverse fields, contributing to the broader scientific community.
• Publish original research in peer-reviewed, high-impact journals and present findings at national and international conferences to advance the body of knowledge in cancer nursing and healthcare.
• Secure research grants from federal agencies, foundations, and other external sources to support scholarly activities and advance innovative cancer care interventions.
• Contribute to the academic community by mentoring junior faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students, fostering their development as emerging nurse scientists.
• Build partnerships with healthcare organizations, research centers, and clinical networks to translate research into practice and improve cancer patient outcomes.
• Serve as a research mentor for PhD and DNP students, providing guidance on dissertation projects and fostering scholarly excellence.
• Participate in curriculum development, particularly in areas related to oncology nursing, evidence-based practice, and research methodologies.
• Mentor students and junior faculty in writing for publication, grant writing, and presenting research at scholarly meetings.
• Engage in community outreach and advocacy initiatives to promote cancer prevention, education, and research within diverse populations.
