Job Description

The Cancer Outreach Associate Director will be responsible for community outreach activities among minority populations in the greater New Orleans area; assist in recruiting patients (particularly minorities) to participate in cancer clinical trials; assist in expanding cancer prevention research and education in minority communities of Southeast Louisiana; and develop externally funded research projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Description:

  1. Work within the Xavier University of Louisiana Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education (CMHDRE) to expand and develop community outreach activities with minority populations of the greater New Orleans area.
  2. Work with the Louisiana Cancer Research Center (LCRC) partners (Xavier, LSU, Tulane, Ochsner) on cancer clinical trial programs to develop comprehensive approaches to increase recruitment of minority patients into ongoing and future cancer clinical trials in Southeast Louisiana.
  3. Work with Louisiana Cancer Research Center partners (Xavier, LSU, Tulane, Ochsner) to expand cancer prevention research and education in minority communities of Southeast Louisiana.
  4. Develop collaborative (within the LCRC partners), externally funded research and education projects involving the recruitment of minority patients into cancer clinical trials and/or activities addressing cancer health disparities.
  5. Supervise staff that are involved in cancer health disparities research and education projects.
  6. Report to the Director of Community Engagement and Outreach and the Xavier Associate Director of the LCRC.
