Job Description

This is a 9-month, full-time position. Instructors may be assigned classes at any of the four River Parishes Community College campuses (Gonzales, Reserve, Plaquemine, and St. Charles), as determined by student need and institutional demand. Teaching needs may include face-to-face/online and/or evening classes. Full-time faculty are expected to actively serve on campus committees, participate in campus activities, and participate in student advising and recruitment.

APPOINTMENT Appointed by the Chancellor of the College upon recommendation of the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs

SALARY RANGE *$52,500 - $59,000 depending upon years of teaching experience and education*

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree (official transcripts must be submitted) or ten years field experience in instrumentation.
  • Current knowledge of various instrumentation systems and practices.
  • Current knowledge of industrial safety practices.
  • Satisfactory background check – an offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, deliver, revise, and teach Instrumentation & Electrical Technology courses.
  • Meet College deadlines for attendance taking, grade submission, learning outcomes assessment reporting, and textbook adoptions.
  • Serve on campus committees.
  • Advise students.
  • Assist with student recruitment efforts.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly lab environment.
  • Maintain lab equipment and inventory.
  • Collaborate with business & industry partners to improve the Instrumentation & Electrical Technology program.
  • Consult with other College faculty and staff on issues relevant to student success.
  • Monitor and document student performance.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the River Parishes Community College Mission
